Cross Country Returns

1st Oct 2023

Saturday 30th September 2023

Today saw the start of the Cross Country season and Davyhulme Primary did not disappoint. There was a fantastic turn out for the team from children in Years 3-6 and they all did the school and themselves proud. Running a competitive 1mile race is not an easy thing but everybody finished with a smile on their faces.

Although an individual sport, children can win team medals depending on their finishing positions and these are given in teams of 3. Just completing the race is a win in itself and I am a firm believer that you never feel regret a run!

Nearly all of our age groups returned at least one medal and there were individual medals for Sam and Eliza who finished in the top 3 in their races. There were also countless certificates for children who finished in the top 10.  Well done everybody!

There is somebody who deserves a special ‘shout out’ and that is Molly in Year 3 who ran against Year 5s and came 12 (her result meant the team won silver!). Well done Molly! 🏃‍♀️

Thank you to all the parents who gave up their Saturday morning to support their child and the school, we had the best turn out of any school! We have put in an order for new Cross Country kits so by the next race we will all be sporting green!

N.B. Cross Country Club will be starting after half term on a Monday night 3.15pm- 4.15-pm after half term. Letters will be going out shortly.

If there are other Year 3s who would be interested in joining; I would strongly recommend that you give a junior park run a go to begin to dip your feet into distance running. This is a free event held every Sunday at various locations.
