Fabulous Friday French!

7th Dec 2017

vendredi le premier decembre 2017

In today’s French lesson we started with answering the register in French and then we moved on to a class activity of translating French numbers.  Next, we watched a slide show about the French chateau at Chenonceau whilst listening to the French song ‘Papillon de Nuit’.  After that, we went over our  learning challenges and the skills required to accomplish them, followed by a member of the class reading the French storybook ‘Loup, loup y-es-tu?’.

In addition, we held a french conversation with our partners asking and answering four questions.  We then read aloud the French date and then counted from fifty [cinquante] to one hundred [cent] in fives, followed by listening to volunteers demonstrating this to the class.  We then put together French sentences saying what foods we liked and/or disliked.  To finish, we went back to our learning challenges and showed either a green, yellow or red card to show how much we had understood.

We started the lesson with Madame Underwood showing us some work from Ciara and Emma about France.  Then we did a French activity where we had to answer  French Maths questions.  Madame Underwood then put on a slide show about the chateau at Chenonceau in France.  In the background a French song was playing called ‘Papillon de Nuit’.  Ciara told us the colours of the French flag and we went through Les Defis Savoirs (the learning challenges).  Hannah and Matthew asked each over several questions in French and Lily-May told us today’s date in French.  Madame Underwood asked the class if anyone had a birthday today or if anyone is having their birthday soon but sadly there was nobody.

Then we did some more French Maths.  Everyone joined in and everyone was really good at this.  Madame Underwood asked some people (Sunny, Rehan and Hannah) if they liked certain vegetables, for example, les olives, whilst Ciara and Haris held a conversation about this.  Ciara started off and then she sat down and the conversation carried on with more people asking and answering questions about foods that they liked and/or disliked.  Then, the class said goodbye (au revoir) to Madame Underwood and Monsieur Burke.
