On behalf of everyone at Davyhulmestaff Primary School Mr McDowell wishes Captain Tom many happy returns on this special day as he dedicates the construction of his first Airfix model to Captain Tom - it is not a prestigious ‘ fly past ‘ but it has been decades in the making !
When Mr McDowell was a primary pupil ( many many years ago ) his older brother John would construct numerous Airfix models and hang them from the ceiling on display . Mr McDowell would sneak them down and play with them , never having the confidence nor patience to actually construct one for himself ... not until now !
So children , do not leave it as long as me - get constructing or building or learning a new skill now ...you have the time !
