Inclusion at DPS
Davyhulme Primary School Inclusion Pledge
‘One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.'
– Malala Yousafzai
At Davyhulme Primary School our mission statement – Reaching for the stars! – is at the heart of everything that we do, and as such we believe all our pupils can succeed in many different ways. In our school environment, inclusion is inter-woven into all aspects of our school – it is a part of our culture. Everyone is different, everyone is welcome! We encourage everyone in our school community to be themselves, and feel that they belong by doing that.
We are proud to have a dedicated and passionate staff who always strive to support all our pupils in the best ways possible for each pupil, ensuring that everyone feels happy, and valued. We recognise that as society changes, we need a dynamic, ever-evolving approach with continuous reflection and development.
As a staff we promise to:
- Develop strong, positive and trusting relationships with our pupils, and their families: understand what pupils are good at, what they like doing, how they enjoy to learn, and when they might need help.
- Help our pupils to feel safe, empowered and ready to learn.
- Always listen and reflect upon the ideas of our pupils and their families.
- Work collaboratively with each other, other professionals and the wider community to provide the best education for our pupils.
- Ensure we give our pupils opportunities to progress towards their goals and aspirations.
- Encourage and support pupils to become involved and be included in activities which they wish to participate in.
- Work together to ensure that the pupils leave our school with an awareness of how to be a positive global citizen.
- Live our school’s core values, showing respect and acceptance by being role models for our school community.
